THE MISSION
Incorporated in 2012, Empowering Ourselves, Inc. is a Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to empower at-risk youth, reduce violence, and promote respect for self and community. To fulfill our mission, we conduct community engagement events aimed at raising the collective consciousness of the entire neighborhood and provide dynamic youth programs that set vulnerable boys and girls on an early path to success.
Our programs nurture the whole individual, offering academic support, life skills, mentorship, and community involvement. We believe true empowerment requires a holistic approach that fosters emotional, social, and intellectual growth. By partnering with local schools, businesses, and community leaders, we build a support network that encourages resilience and self-determination in every young person we serve. Our goal is a safer, more inclusive Bedford-Stuyvesant, where the next generation thrives as positive change-makers.
